4 litre 8 Cylinder Dual Purpose

The first car George Brough made was the 4 litre 8 cylinder from May 1935 to 1936 only around 20 were manufactured and only 8 are in running order. With a Hudson 28.8 hp 4168cc 8 cylinder side valve engine producing 125bhp Performance was remarkable for the time with a top speed of 90mph and 0-60 in 10 seconds. The coachwork was by Atcherley of Birmingham Cost new £695

3.5 litre 6 Cylinder Dual Purpose

Hudson stopped supplying 8 cylinder engines to George Brough in 1936 after a dispute by Railton. The cars were produced with a Hudson 21.6 hp 3.5 litre 6 cylinder side valve engine producing 107 bhp. Top speed 90mph and 0-60 in 12 seconds The chassis was 4 inches shorter and was available with a supercharger which produced 140bhp approx 80 cars made. Cost new £665 Supercharged £755

3.5 litre 6 Cylinder Saloon

Most Brough Superiors built were Drop Head Coupe “DHC” but saloon bodies were available utilising the 6 cylinder Hudson engine only 3 of these cars are known to have been built. Cost new £695

Alpine Grand Sports 3.5 litre 6 Cylinder Supercharged

Using a supercharged Hudson 6 cylinder engine and bodywork by E.J.Newns of Thames Ditton, Surrey. Known as “Girl Pat” this is the only Alpine Grand Sports built Producing 140bhp made 107mph and 0-60 in 9.5 seconds easily achieved.

Alpine Grand Sports 3.5 litre 6 Cylinder Supercharged


Built in 1938, used a Lincoln Zephyr V12 engine of 4387cc and Brough’s own design of chassis with girling brakes and Ford axles Only one was made with a saloon body by Charlesworth. A large car with a length of 219 inches and 71 inches wide. The Lincoln Zephyr engine produced 37hp Max Power 110bhp Cost new £1250
